Children's Ministry
Children at St. Paul experience God’s love and acceptance through Faith Formation. In order to help our children grow in their faith we offer the following throughout the year: Sunday School, SonShine Friends after school on Wednesdays, Sonshine Choir, and Summer Vacation Bible School. We also offer events for them throughout the year like a day at our local pool.
Sunday School at St. Paul's is held on Sunday mornings from 11:00 until noon. There are classes for children from 4-years-old through 6th grade. Sunday School runs from September through May.
SonShine Friends is for children in grades Kindergarten through 6. This after school program focuses on different aspects of our faith. They meet after school on Wednesdays from 3-4:30pm. For more information on this, contact Holly Klemisch, Faith Formation Director. Kindergarten -2nd Graders (Group A) and 3-6th Grade (Group B). The two groups rotate every other week and runs from September through the beginning of May.
Vacation Bible School is a summer educational opportunity for children in kindergarten through 6th grade. We spend time creating religious crafts, learning Bible stories, playing games and singing.
Youth Ministry
Youth at St. Paul experience God’s love and acceptance through Faith Formation. This includes Jr. High Youth Group, High School Youth Group, Confirmation Classes, and many events and trips.
Youth Group at St. Paul's is an all-year-round ministry. We have Sunday night gatherings for Junior High. We also have activities for both high school and junior high throughout the year and into the summer.
Living Out Loud at St. Paul's is held once a month on Sundays after worship during the Sunday School Hour for Junior High youth.
Confirmation Ministries Truly, “confirmation” begins with the sacrament of baptism and continues throughout a believer’s life. However, the confirmation program is a faith formation ministry of our church where parents/guardians, the pastor, and the congregation accompany youth in a period of learning and development. Everything we do in the confirmation program is leading you toward your Affirmation of Baptism. Since many people in the Lutheran church are baptized as infants, the promises made in baptism are made on their behalf. The Affirmation of Baptism is a faith milestone when you will be asked to affirm your desire to follow Jesus in your own voice.
At the Affirmation of Baptism service (ELW pp. 234-237), often referred to as Confirmation Sunday, each student will be asked a particular question... This question directly relates to the responsibilities parents are entrusted with when their children are baptized in the congregations of the ELCA; so if you have been baptized at St. Paul Lutheran or another ELCA congregation, your parents made a promise to help you grow in the Christian faith and life in similar words to the below question (ELW pp. 227-231).
Do you intend to continue in the covenant God made with you in Holy Baptism:
to live among God’s faithful people,
to hear the word of God and share in the Lord’s Supper,
to proclaim the Good News of God in Christ through word and deed,
to serve all people, following the example of Jesus,
and to strive for justice and peace in all the earth?
The years spent in the confirmation program are intended to continue more intentionally, the exploration of faith and life so that students can make this affirmation of baptism statement of faith in the hope and trust that God will continue to lead and guide them in all of the aspects of their lives now and in the future.
During our time together in the confirmation program, we will shape our learning around this affirmation of baptism statement. The statement’s promises speak to a life lived in worship of God, a life marked by faith formation, a life marked by service to the neighbor, and a life lived in fellowship. As such, the confirmation program emphasizes:
1. Worship Regular worship attendance and service
2. Learn Regular confirmation class attendance and self-guided learning
3. Serve Regular participation in service opportunities
4. Fellowship Regular participation in LYO/youth group and fellowship events
Please contact Pastor Sloka if you would like more information.
